VMware VI3 and Virtual Center 2.0.2 Released

Well I have successfully applied the Virtual Center 2.0.2 upgrade (from 2.0.1) and VI3 3.0.2 upgrade (from 3.0.1) with no ill side effects. Definitely looking forward to the 2003 SP2 and SQL2005 resolutions.

Upgrading VI3.0.1 to VI3.0.2

1. Copy tarball to /tmp
2. tar -zxvf
3. cd /

1. esxupdate -n update

...
INFO: | Transaction(s) Complete
INFO: Shutting down hostd…
INFO: Running esxcfg-boot to regenerate initrds…
INFO: Restarting hostd…

Upgrading Virtual Center 2.0.1 to 2.0.2

1. Mount the .ISO

1. Run through the installer.

This didn’t work as designed and I instead got the wonderful “Insert Disk 1” message.

VC 2.0.2 Nightmare

1. Uninstall Virtual Center.

1. Reinstall Virtual Center.
